Awkwafina
Awkwafina began as a American rapper and singer, making sly songs that addressed topics like racial or sexual identity with a comedic twist. Before expanding to Hollywood, she could perform a variety of tracks. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop training began as she was in her teens. In college, she studied the field of women's studies and journalism. In addition, she spent a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. However, it wasn't until she graduated that she shifted her focus on music. The song My Vag, a response track to the Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in the year 2012. The track was later included on her debut album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also contained popular hits that went viral, such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015. This was a different project. Following a career that was successful as a musician and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of an actor. As well as early shows, such Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. Her breakout roles included Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. In June she dropped her debut EP "In Fina We Trust".
