Audra is a unique artist because of her range and variety of her talent as a performer and songwriter. Audra McDonald who has won Six Tony Awards in a row and two Grammy Awards in 2015 was recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People. President Barack Obama also awarded her the National Medal of Arts -- America's highest honour for excellence in this area. Because of her beautiful tone, and unbeatable ability of telling dramatic tales her success has been evident both on Broadway as well as at the opera as well as on television and film. She is a renowned performer as a recording artist and concert performer performing regularly in some of the most prestigious venues around the globe. McDonald was born in Fresno California to a music family, completed her classical voice training in New York's Juilliard School. One year after graduation McDonald won the Tony Award Best Performance for the Lead Actress of a Musical in Carousel at Lincoln Center Theater. Over the next four years, she won two additional Tony Awards for the category of a featured actress. She performed in the Broadway premier productions of Terrence McNally's musical Ragtime as well as Terrence McNally's show Master Class in 1996. She appeared on the show in 1999. starred along with Kathy Bates in ABC's acclaimed remake of Annie. Also, she had regularly recurring roles on NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit in the year 2000. McDonald received her debut Emmy for her part as a character in The HBO version of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit written by Mike Nichols, starring Emma Thompson. In 2003, she returned to television but this time on Mister Sterling produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr., with Josh Brolin. She was a part of The Bedford Diaries on the WB show The Bedford Diaries in early 2006. In the following season, she played an recurring role on the NBC Television show Kidnapped. In the year 2016, McDonald was nominated for an additional Emmy award for her role as a character in HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, a special film. The Bite will be a six-episode series about a pandemic coproduced by Spectrum Originals, CBS Studios and Taylor Schilling in 2021. McDonald was first seen as U.S. lawyer Liz Lawrence (now Liz Reddick), in the CBS Legal drama The Good Wife, in the year 2009. In 2018 she reprised the role on The Good Fight for Paramount+ as a regular in the series. Her performance received three Critics Choice Award Nominations. The actress is currently a guest in Julian Fellowes's historic comedy The Gilded Age.
