Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born on the 12th of July 1988, is a Canadian performer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's third season, was the winner in 2005. O'Neil is best known as an actress due to her role on Syfy as Two and as RebeccaAs Two / Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was placed among the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. Disappointed, the judges advised viewers to vote for contestants who resembled Melissa, who clearly had the most impressive vocal skills. O'Neil was recognized for her efforts and she never dropped back to the bottom three. Zack Werner declared that O'Neil was "a threat" to win the whole competition. O'Neil together with Rex Goudie, made it into the finals on September 7 in 2005. Werner, a judge famously said that the headlines of the following day's newspaper will be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. The Queen will live forever." At the grand finale's final results presentation on September 14, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to become the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner and (at 17) the youngest winner of the show's history.
